You know that feeling when you say “I should go to bed but I’m gonna play just 5 more minutes”, then you realize it’s 4 A.M. and you look like Lindsay Lohan on a bad day? Yup, Super Crate Box is one of those games.

And it’s free.

The premise is simple, you jump around collecting boxes and shooting at enemies. Every time you pick up a box, you get a new random weapon and have to shoot your way to the next box. It’s a really simple premise but it requires a lot of practice since some of the weapons can kill you, some are slow, some are weak, and some are powerful but have a strong recoil.

As you pick up crates, you unlock new levels, characters and weapons, making sure you keep playing and playing and playing. SCB supports playing with joypads, which is how it’s meant to be played anyway.

It’s a fun retro game, and best of all you can play it for free right now on Steam.

The game is a classic retro platformer, with running, jumping, collecting hearts and so on.

As Yoshi in Yoshi’s Island on the SNES, you can grab enemies with your tongue and shoot them out into bigger enemies.

The controls are fine but may take a little while to get used to running and wall-jumping.

To make things a little more interesting, you can collect coins and spend them on upgrades, like a longer tongue to catch enemies with.

As you can see from the screenshots, if retro is your thing, you’re gonna love Frogatto and Friends graphics. Pixelated goodness.

Made by Matt Thorson when he was only 16, Jumper was platform game that started easy enough, well, until 1 minute in.

Then it got crazy.

Matt says:

“Not my first game, but my first worth mentioning. Made with Game Maker when I was sixteen,

Jumper was a minimalization of the platformers I loved as a child down to their most basic concepts,

making them simple enough for me to emulate.

Help Ogmo escape the abandoned lab in this incredibly difficult platformer.”

The title character Ogmo also got featured in Super Meat Boy, where you could unlock him as a playable character.

Players control an unnamed adventurer, known as the spelunker. The aim of the game is to explore underground tunnels, gathering as much treasure as possible while avoiding traps and enemies. Levels are randomly generated and grouped into four increasingly difficult “areas”, each with a distinctive set of items, enemies, terrain types and special features. Later areas contain better treasures, plus secret locations (like the City of Gold) and items.

Enemies include animals like bats, snakes and spiders of varying sizes, other characters, and monsters like yeti, man-eating plants and ghosts. The player can collect many items, mainly gold and jewels which add to the player’s score, but also useful objects including bombs, guns, climbing gear and archaeological artifacts. Some of the latter have supernatural abilities, including kapalas, hedjets, crystal skulls and golden ankhs, though many of these special items can only be gained through secret methods, like combining other items together. Some items may be purchased or stolen from shops scattered about the caves, though the shopkeeper becomes a powerful enemy if you steal from him.

The player can also encounter damsels in distress trapped in the caves, who can be picked up and carried to an exit. Successfully doing so returns health to the player. It’s possible to unlock the damsel as a playable character; gameplay is identical, except that the player encounters spelunkers to rescue. Another unlockable character is the “Tunnel Man”, who possesses a mattock instead of a whip.

Ski Challenge 2012

SC:12 starts with a first -  we are offering the Ski Challenge not only as a download, but also as a browser-based version.
Find some useful hints and tips about the best – and fastest – ways to tackle challenging stretches and the twists and turns of the course.
Super-G at Beaver Creek, Val d’Isère, Who will be crowned World Champion after the Hahnenkamm downhill race ?
Racers will have to muster every ounce of strength one last time on the Streif course. It will be worth it !

SC:12 offers further optional features that add to the fun and excitement.

The story progresses over 5 days, with more story being revealed each day. Dream sequences typically space out the transitions between the events of different days, it has an intuitive version of the AGS interface that ties in with the unique feel of the game.
