  1. Maniac Mansion can quite literally be considered one of “those games that started it all”, and it certainly a classic adventure game. Ron Gilbert (yes, and Tim Schafer) did an amazing job on it. My only suggestion would be to play through once and then use a walk through the second time. In MM characters can die, and you cannot finish with a certain combination of characters. It’s probably the biggest flaw in the game in my opinion, just getting stuck 90% of the way through the game.

    • It’s definitely earned its place in the videogame hall of fame. I tried to revisit it when I found it on an in-game PC during my Day of the Tentacle play-through back in the day but found I didn’t have the patience for it any more.

      • The fatal flaw of DOTT is that Maniac Mansion is included and if you start playing MM, you can’t quit until you finish the game. Pretty insane to include a full game inside another full game.
You are right on the patience bit. We were all different people 20-30 years ago, and time was on our side. At 50, I find with almost all games that have these long winded intro’s, I’m doing anything to skip past them. I struggle with the story lines, and the nonsense. I just want to play the game.
I have a week off between jobs, and it looks like it’s going to rain all week here in Sydney, so I might revisit MM one of the days.

        • In reply to myself, not only is it raining, I also tested positive for Covid, so, I’m stuck at home for the week. Yay 🙂 I feel fine, just a mild persistent cough.
