Now this is a great month. Desperados 3 is brilliant, from the same studio that made Shadow Tactics. Well, it’s basically the same game, just with cowboys instead of ninjas.
Desperados 3 is great, I agree. My favorite in the bundle!
Shadow Tactics was so bad. Using shadow mode to simultaneously off four baddies, but then having to manually and clumsily one-by-one hide each body is deeply unsatisfying.
Mass Effect is for Origin. Skipped this month because of that.
Um…why?
Because I didn’t subscribe to the Humble Monthly for anything but Steam games. That’s supposed to be the deal. I have zero interest in expanding my Origin Library. I’m also a one woman man. Thanks for the curiosity though 🙂
Mass Effect 3 is only on Origin. Even if you somehow managed to buy it via Steam, you’d still have to have Steam and Origin installed to play it.
No, I get that, I mean, I do have EA games on Steam which require Origin, and I’m sure that it comes as no surprise that it bugs the utter shit out of me. But alas, little I can do except not encourage other clients, so I buy on Steam kind of on principle. Obviously I have the same problem with Ubisoft and perhaps some day they will drop that requirement. If that day happens, I’d rather have all my eggs in Steam’s basket than all over the map. I also generally trust Valve more than any of the other big guys for reasons I won’t bore you with.
EDIT: Also, for the reason mentioned below, when I signed onto the Monthly, it was supposed to be Steam games only…they changed the rules and the Dude does not abide. 😛
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news friend. But Humbled Bundle made no guarantee that the keys will be Steam only or that you’d be able to use it only on Steam. So I don’t understand your point about them “breaking the rules” as there are no rules. And look I get it, it’s your dollar, should be your choice am I right? But in cases like Mass Effect Legendary Edition, your gripe lays with EA themselves.
And while defending Humble Bundle leaves a bad taste in my mouth, that’s the corner you put me in.
And while I like Valve and Steam and actively use the platform, you’re giving them a little too much credit.
Sorry to be the one to correct you friend, but they in fact *did* make the guarantee that the games would be only steam keys when the Monthly first started and that’s when I signed up. Over the course of the Monthly’s metamorphosis into Choice, they sneakily removed that bit and now apparently it’s whatever they feel like. They’re surely not going to advertise that sneaky change. The problem isn’t with EA, it’s with Humble (or, if we really want to point fingers, and why not, it’s *really* Ziff Davis), who in the administrative side made the deal with EA for Mass Effect on Origin. I don’t blame EA. It’s just like I don’t necessarily blame Remedy for the Control debacle, I blame Humble in that case for either not knowing what they were selling and/or not being transparent about the product. In this case they were transparent and in this case I spoke with my wallet.
As for my trust for Valve, you have no idea why I trust them and it’s for more concrete reasons than some childish “they make good games and are the good guys” attitude.
You’re going to have to actually provide some kind of proof.
Because to date I’ve never seen Humble Bundle ever make that promise. And I’ve been buying from them since they were the Indie Humble Bundle.
Even for Humble Monthly or even Choice. I’ve never seen them make that claim.
But feel free to quadruple down, since you’ve already doubled down.
And no, trust is earned. Only a fool goes around blindly trusting strangers. And you’ve given me no reason to trust you at all.
And I know why you give Valve such blind loyalty, even though you’ll never actually admit it.
You’re a fanboy. Which is the most childish of reasons.
Unlike the reasons you listed. Which believe it or not, were solid reasons for giving Valve your business.
And the fact you need both Steam and Origin for games bought on Steam to play an EA game isn’t EA’s fault huh?
So feel free to get heated if you like. Because you’ve already proven you don’t actually have any idea of what you’re talking about.
Thanks for playing.
I don’t have to provide shit. I never asked you to trust me, in fact, you’re the one that commented on my post and continued to engage me, not accepting my reasoning, which is mine and mine alone.
You came out at me with your passive aggressive nonsense which I don’t appreciate….friend.
It’s not my fault that you don’t pay attention to the ToS from Humble over the years or maybe you weren’t subscribed way back when, I don’t know, I don’t know you, I only know what I know.
I obviously can’t go back in time to get a screenshot of the original monthly subscription page which made the statement that games would be Steam games, but of course you know that or maybe you don’t.
Furthermore, you know absolutely *nothing* about me. As far as I can tell, this is the first interaction you and I have had on any level. But you don’t care, you have no interest in learning about anyone, otherwise you would have simply asked, rather than make baseless assumption after baseless assumption. No, instead you act passively aggressive, hurl insults and make wild accusations without knowing spit about the other person because all you want is a fight.
So, it sounds like you’re the one who is really offended. I made a rather innocuous post about how I wasn’t interested in the bundle because of the inclusion of non-steam games and you’re the one continuing to berate me because of my CHOICE.
Go ahead and continue to act in the way you do, your attitude betrays your intelligence. I will no longer engage you in any capacity. Have a pleasant day (friend).
EDIT: Oh snap. See, I wasn’t sure if I had screen capped the Humble Support site where they said it was Steam games, but after a little digging, I found the screen cap I took way back when.

Game over, you lose.
Sub since day one can confirm this is true.

I never played it back in the day, but having picked up this month’s bundle I’m enjoying it a lot. It’s a great price for a really good game, the inconvenience of having to boot it through Origin is worth the effort, IMO.
It’s not really the inconvenience per se, as like I said, I have other games that require Origin but rather the fact that it’s non-steam. I prefer to have my collection there because I like the feature set that comes with using Steam. All my friends and family use Steam so I like to compare Achievements and such with friends. In addition, does Mass Effect 3 still have Multiplayer ? Can I play my Steam friends if I have the Origin only copy ? I’m not sure, don’t want to deal with the hassle. It is a fantastic series, I have played and 100% them on Xbox.
Fair enough. No multiplayer, though, ME3 only has the single player component in this edition.
