Not every web browser is supported by GOG, only: MS Edge, Firefox, Chrome.
The button you need to press is in the banner on the store’s main page, not on the game’s page. You have to scroll down a bit, below the “Flash Deals”. Then hit the “Get it Free” button in the banner, which should prompt you to log in, not elsewhere on the banner, which will instead take you to the game’s page. The store’s main page was having some issues loading for me though, so I had to try in a different browser.
if you click on “get it free” on the store page you immediately get send back to the main page. so it does not work for me either.

simply log in to gog’s website and on the main page click “get it free”
its a big green banner, should be simply and easy to do!
