Bungie’s groundbreaking shooter, Marathon, has made its way to Steam as Classic Marathon, thanks to a fan-initiated project approved by Bungie. And, it’s free to download!
This classic 1994 Bungie™ FPS had a foundational influence on the genre, and is now maintained by the fan community. Experience authentic game play using the original data files, with optional widescreen HUD support, 3D filtering/perspective, positional audio, and 60+ fps interpolation, “just in case the original is too authentic.”, as one developer said.
Classic Marathon is available for free on Steam, with additional releases, Classic Marathon 2 and Classic Marathon Infinity, expected to launch in the future, plus a Marathon series reboot is rumored confirmed to happen soon.
