Cartomancy Anthology has dropped its $24.99 price tag and is now permanently free on Steam. The change happened earlier this month, so this is not a limited-time giveaway and there is no deadline to worry about.
Released in 2022 by Compact and Code Coven, Cartomancy Anthology is actually a collection of 22 different games, with each one inspired by a card from the tarot’s Major Arcana.
The anthology treats the collection like a virtual tarot deck. You draw cards to discover different experiences, then gradually complete your deck as you play through them. The games vary quite a bit in style and genre, including platformers, visual novels, cooking games, fishing, interactive stories, and other small experimental projects.
Each entry also comes from a different creative team, so the anthology works almost like a showcase of indie developers built around one shared theme. Some of the games deal with heavier subjects such as mental health and death, with content warnings available before you start them.
It is a pretty unusual package, and going from $24.99 to completely free makes it much easier to recommend.
