  1. Resident Evil because it’s the game that really but really scared me when I was a kid when I saw my brother playing it and really had a trauma because of it, really thought before the world was going to be doomed and invaded by zombie hordes :

  2. Outlast for the horror, scary and intense moments in a really dark atmosphere, it’s totally my favorite genre of game 🙂

  3. I choose Amnesia because it’s really a scary game, it can totally disturb the player’s mind with the dark environments and scary sounds. One of the best of the genre =D

  4. F.E.A.R. – The immersion, the environment, and terrifying scenarios really re-defined the genre. And its tie-up with the FPS mechanic is seamless

  5. Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army – zombies are slow but they certainly overwhelm you .. just like Romero zombies should!

  6. Amnesia because the environment , sound effects , gameplay was extremely scary…..made me jump out of my chair couple of times.

  7. I think Resident Evil is my favorite horror game. It managed to do something really special that, even still today, rarely exists in a video game world. It has that perfect atmosphere, and it keeps you on edge the whole way through, even years later when you play through it again. There really isn’t much else out there that can compete with Resident Evil.

  8. The original Dead Space did a fantastic job of atmosphere, especially with the vents and noises and music combining.

You’d be running along corridors, peeking around corners, eyeing vents suspiciously.
    Then you enter a room.
It’s clear. You check the shadows. Clear.
    *suspicious noise*
You turn to look, nothing there.
Fuck. Damn necromorphs. Damn sneaky fuckers.

… this is also why when I was playing late at night I kept waking a tired friend with expletives.
