Epic Games Store Growth in 2024
The platform saw a 25 million increase in PC users, bringing total accounts to 898 million worldwide, including 94 million new cross-platform accounts from Xbox, Nintendo, and PlayStation users.
Daily active users peaked at 37.2 million, while monthly active users reached 74 million. Despite a slight drop from 75 million last year, overall engagement improved, with a 6% increase in daily active users (31.5 million) and monthly active users (67.2 million).
The Power of Free Games
One of the biggest draws of the Epic Games Store is its weekly free game giveaways. In 2024, 89 free games were offered, leading to an astounding 595 million game claims. The total value of these giveaways amounted to $2,229 per user (based on US retail prices), making it an excellent opportunity for gamers to expand their libraries at no cost.
Additionally, the Epic Games Store launched on mobile, now available on Android globally and iOS in the European Union with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I & II being currently free for all who download the app.

Epic Games Store is set for more upgrades in 2025, with features like game gifting, pre-loading, and an improved download manager to enhance the gaming experience.
At this point, Epic is still far away from Steam at least in terms of popularity, but a little competition is always good for the end consumers – us gamers.
