Top 10 Free Horror Games Worth Playing

5. Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 (Steam)

poppyCome on, who doesn’t like that cute face? Poppy Playtime launched in 2021 and it wasn’t until May 2022 when this game went free-to-play to became an overnight hit. You will be stalked by the charismatic monster called Huggy Wuggy while you navigate this first free chapter. Further chapters come as a paid DLC.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 is available for free on Steam and it has Mostly Positive reviews.

4. The Supper (Steam)

supper

Another short horror game with Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam, The Supper is an indie adventure game about the darkest side of the human soul. This indie game is well-crafted, imaginative and superbly polished. And just the right amount of creepy.

The Supper is available for free on Steam and it has Overwhelmingly Positive reviews.

3. SCP – Containment Breach (Steam and DRM-free Windows Download at Itch)

SCP – Containment Breach is a free survival horror multiplayer horror game available on Steam. The player takes the role of a human test subject who is imprisoned in an underground facility devoted to containing and studying anomalous entities known as SCPs.

There are currently 9 playable entities and over 30 SCP entities to hunt you.

Available on Windows PC. Official Page. Steam Page.

2. Slender: The Eight Pages (DRM-free Windows Download)

Wow, Slender: The Eight Pages is 10 years old!

And it’s still creepy after all this time! The gameplay is fairy simple, you need to collect 8 manuscript pages while Slenderman randomly pops up when you’re least expecting him. You can’t look at him or you go insane. It’s a simple game from a simpler time but if you somehow skipped it, now’s the chance to try out this classic. After all, it’s free.

Available on Windows PC. Official Page. There’s also a remake on Steam but it has mixed reviews.

1. No More Room in Hell

no mroe room

When there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the Earth. This line from the legendary Dawn of the Dead is a great title for this multiplayer zombie survival made in Half Life 2 Source engine. The thing that sets this zombie basher from the others is that when you get bitten, you can either tell your teammates and be shot in the head by your friends or be quiet and slowly turn into a zombie and jump your teammates when they least expect it (just like what happens in basically every zombie movie ever)

Best of all, this game has no ads or pay-to-win microtransactions and other bull%#it gamers hate.

No More Room in Hell is available for free on Steam and it has Very Positive reviews.
