The Red Lantern is a narrative survival adventure about dog sledding through the Alaskan wilderness. You play as the Musher, who decides to start a new life in Alaska with her dog Chomper, only to quickly realize that surviving out there is not as simple as it sounded. Along the way, you build a sled dog team, manage supplies, deal with wildlife, and try to find your way home.
The game mixes story, exploration, survival choices, and roguelite-style runs, where failure teaches you how to get further next time. It is snowy, atmospheric, a little dangerous, and full of dogs — basically the opposite of my ideal vacation, except for the dogs!
It is developed by Timberline Studio and published by Kepler Interactive. The game normally costs $24.99, but it is currently free to keep if you add it to your account before June 18 at 10:00 AM. Once claimed, it should stay in your Steam library.

This is a nice pickup if you enjoy narrative games, survival elements, wilderness settings, and making questionable decisions in the snow without actually freezing your ass off.
