The Lab

10 Best Free VR Games to Play Right Now

The Lab is a compilation of Valve’s room-scale VR experiments set in a pocket universe within Aperture Science. Fix a robot, defend a castle, adopt a mechanical dog, and more. Still not sold? It’s free!

SCP: Labrat VR

scp vr

We already wrote about SCP: Containment Breach in our Top 10 Free Horror games post.

If you liked that game, you’re gonna LOVE this one. It plays the same – you must escape horrible creatures from the underground facility to win like in the first game, but this time it’s much scarier since it’s in VR! Not for the faint of heart. Free downloads on Steam. Diapers not included.

SCP: Labrat VR has Very Positive reviews and is available for free on Steam. Compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, and Valve Index.

Google Earth VR

google earth

OK, OK, it’s not technically a game. But this incredible piece of Google software is really worth checking out. Would you like to see your house in VR from the air? Or do you want to explore the streets of Paris or New York? You certainly can! And it has been updated with Google Street View, so now you can take a stroll through the streets.

Google Earth is available for free on Steam and it has Overwhelmingly Positive reviews. Supports HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Valve Index.

The Red Stare

Spy on your neighbours and try to find out which one of them is a dirty commie! Set it the cold war New York in the 50’s, you need to stop the communist spies before it’s too late. Unfortunately, the game only has single player. We can only imagine the spy vs spy shenanigans in multiplayer!

The Red Stare is available for free on Steam and it has Very Positive reviews. Available for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or Valve Index.

Gorilla Tag

This one is popular! Run, climb, and jump in VR using a unique locomotion method that only needs the movement of your hands and arms. No buttons, no sticks, no teleportation. Great fun.

Gorilla Tag is available for free on Steam and it has Very Positive reviews. Available for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality and Valve Index.

Spider-Man: Far From Home VR

spidermanSpider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can! Well, I never heard of a spider web-swinging around NYC in VR, which is exactly what this short 15-minute game is about. Try it our for free, if you’re not afraid of heights.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is available for free on Oculus Store and it supports Oculus/Meta Quest, Rift and Rift S.

Propagation VR

Propagation VR is great for you if you enjoy zombies rushing at your from all sides. Given that it takes place in a subway, it has a slight claustrophobic feeling in addition to being a standard zombie apocalypse horror game.

Available for free on Steam. Available for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality and Valve Index.
